I’m usually always reading something. Hopefully this year will be no different. However two books I desire to work through systematically within the year is the MacArthur daily bible (Christmas present from my wife Laura) and John Calvin’s Institutes of the Christian religion.

The bible is my primary objective, as good as some books are, there is a danger in substituting books about the bible for the bible itself. However I hope to glean insights from John Macarthur as I work through his daily reading arrangement along with his notes.

I’m also hoping that working through the reading plan for Calvin’s Institutes will benefit me spiritually as well as help me get to grips with some of his teaching. Again you can read so much about ‘Calvinism’ rather than go to the man himself.
