So true, Glasgow Elim comes to mind. Your quotes are also great don’t know who there from though “IN THE LAST DAYS THREE THINGS WILL HAPPEN IN THE GREAT PENTECOSTAL MOVEMENT…”
I’m a little confused. How can you forget the signs and miracles? Jesus performed miracles. He turned water into wine, fed the 5000 and healed numorous people. So why do we forget the signs?
We shouldn’t FOCUS on the signs. But if they’re good enough for Jesus, why shouldn’t we be walking in that?
Not being snippy or saying you’re wrong, by the way. Just slightly confused and looking for some explanation.
Hi Rachel, firstly, thanks for dropping by and leaving a comment:)
Your right, Jesus did perform many miracles and it would be wrong to forget these.
I dont think Ravenhill is saying that believers should literally forget that God has done and does miracles.
The statement, at the end of the video clip, is a correction.
Many christians not only focus on ‘miracles,’ they pursue them, long for them, try to manufacture them. Many believers have become so preocupied with tongues, prophesy, healing, visions, dreams etc that they have wandered into error.
Many Christians have a) lost sight of the gospel (or at least only have a very watered down version),b)lost sight of the need for holiness in our walk with God. I guess many people would say the recent lakeland revival was an example of pursuing the supernatural at the expense of the gospel, true teaching and holiness.
In the light of such situations I dont think its wrong to say as Ravenhill says ‘forget miracles, forget tongues’ ‘preach the new birth’. In otherwords, your quest for the supernatural is taking you off track, leave aside your distractions and get your eyes back on Jesus.’
good point rachel, it seems there is primarily two camps charismaniacs who are all about feelings and who tend to view doctrine with suspicion. Or else there are those who are all doctrine but no power.
Incidently, Ravenhill is worth listening to as he is a late revivalist. In otherwords he is well known for his genuine revivalist calling. He’s a bit of a prophet really.
Also the whole point of this website is to counter the imbalance which you have identified, three streams is about Word and Spirit. However most people coming from either one of these camps will probably only see the stuff that challenges their current position and not take to much notice. In otherwords the non cahrismatics will write it off because the website is charismatic and believes in God’s power. The charismatics who think they dont have a problem will probably not recognise their own needs and extremes either! I guess its all about humility and willingness to be instructed over and beyond what we already think we know, not an easy process!

I hope that clarifies things a bit.

Yeah that helps. I don’t think the problem is the miracles or the teaching, it’s the fact that most placs offer one or the other.
Thanks for clearing things up.
God bless,
Rachel
