Once Upon a time in a Blog Far, Far away…
My blogging days actually began on a thing called Yahoo 360. I was introduced to Yahoo 360 while studying at bible college, I had always fancied blogging and so the journey began. However it wasn’t long before i discovered Bebo and at that point I kissed yahoo 360 goodbye only later to discover bebo’s blog mechanism was rubbish. And so the transition to blogger took place which of course led to this website (I’m suddenly feeling like a total blog hussie!) Anyway, I found my old Yahoo 360 site just last night and I thought I’d transfer them on to this. Three comments 1) I think I wrote a lot more creatively back then (2006) 2) My blogs where much shorter! 3) My spelling and grammer has improved considerably.
Since they are fairly short and there is only a few of them I’ll include them all in this one blog post. ENJOY! (Comments written in blue are recent additions and did not appear in th original blog)
JonBoyz Blog (Hip and Trendy name, much less sophisticated and much more studenty! lol)
Theological Reflection, Philosophical ‘finking’, and Random Ramblings will likely be the height and depths of this Blog. (You can see from this sub heading that I took myself far less seriously back then!)
- Child Like Awe?
-
One of the Theological subjects that I am studying at the moment is Spiritual Development. In class recently we were encouraged to become ‘meditative people’. As Christians we can meditate on the Living Word of God, and Gods second book…Creation! As Christians we do not worship creation, but in meditating upon creation we begin to appreciate and experience something of the Glory of God revealed in creation. ’Growing up’ has a strange way of robbing us of our appreciation of life. Awe and wonder which is reflected in the enquisitiveness, simplicity and gratitude of a child is replaced by academic and adult cynicism. We cease to stop and marvel at the sunset, the rainbow or even the falling rain. If we slow ourselves down from our contemperory and busy lives and stop to consider what is around us, perhaps something of that awe and wonder will rise up in praise to God.

- Baptism of the Holy Spirit?
-
Theory? Doctrine? Divisive? Happens at conversion? Happens after conversion? Comes with Tongues? Doesnt come with tongues? Irelevant? Very relevant? A baptism into Christs body by the Holy Spirit? Or baptism in the Holy Spirit by Christ? Pauline perspective? Lukian perspspective? Same thing or different thing? For Salvation? For Holiness? For power? Whats for you wont go by you? Or sit on the fence and youll miss it? A Pentecostal error? Or a restored truth/encounter?
Fulfilment of Promise
“You will recieve power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you…you will be my witnesses!” Jesus.
There are five detailed accounts in acts regarding Spirit Baptism. In only one of these accounts does it occur at the same time as conversion.
It would seem to me that according the the NT one can be a believer and not be baptised in the Holy Spirit.
The evangelical ‘at conversion’ theory is an evangelical doctrinal construct and not faithful to the accounts in Acts.
Neither Jesus, John the Baptist or Luke linked Spirit Baptism with ‘being saved’ but defined it as an experience. The experience would be empowering for faithful service.
Have you recieved the Holy Spirit since believing?

Matt 24
37“For the (AV)coming of the Son of Man will be (AW)just like the days of Noah.
38“For as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, (AX)marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that (AY)Noah entered the ark,
39and they did not understand until the flood came and took them all away; so will the (AZ)coming of the Son of Man be.
40“Then there will be two men in the field; one will be taken and one will be left.
41“(BA)Two women will be grinding at the (BB)mill; one will be taken and one will be left.
42“Therefore (BC)be on the alert, for you do not know which day your Lord is coming.
————————————————————————————————————-
“And they did not understand until the flood came and took them all away”
Freinds, do you understand?
The apostle John in writing to a group of believers says that “We know that the whole world lies under the control of the evil one and that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding”
Many today do not understand who Jesus is and why he came. To be lacking this understanding is tragic. As the scripture says ‘he who has the Son has life, He who doesnt will not see life’. Those in the day of Noah were living a life seperated from God, and they died a death seperated from God. During their life THEY DID NOT UNDERSTAND. However when the judgement came, THEY UNDERSTOOD. Friends, when Jesus comes back, ALL WILL UNDERSTAND, but it will be too late. Those in Noahs day, eventually understood, but as they understood they understood the understanding had come too late! Make no mistake, Jesus Christ is coming back to judge the world. In that day those who have turned from their sinful condition and sinful actions and put their faith in the death and ressurection of Gods Son on behalf of their sins, they and they alone shall be saved. As I have been reading these passages the fear of God has began once again to stir in my heart. May it move from a stirring and become an overwhelming tide that captivates me into a deeper holiness and burden for the lost.
Freind, do you understand?

Where are we headed in the UK today? Some Christians are expecting revival to hit our shores once again while others suggest that the wrath of God will be our portion since we have turned our back on the God revealed through Holy Scripture? Perhaps it is both. Perhaps Judgement will fall upon the nation and the church and in the midst of judgemnent a remmnant will be revived. Perhaps persecution will stimulate the church of Jesus Christ to prayer and holiness. One thing is for sure much of todays self seeking, cunsumer driven, humanistic, pshychologicaly focused gospel preaching has to go! Modernity driven rationality must also submit to the winds of the Holy Spirit. God is all truth and God is all powerful. Let the end time church of Jesus Christ arise with healing in her wings! Let the Army of God take its position in this last battle with Powers of Darkness. Let the Bride of Christ arise in spotless beautiful garments bathed in the sweet perfume of love and Holiness.
Both fires are falling, are we ready?

Blogs are interesting. For some folk they are away of projecting a false image. That is, insatisfied with who they are they create a more ‘prefered identity’. Others (like myself), perhaps use it as a soap box to share their deep thinking (aye rite!) and to ‘put the world arite’. Others just let it all hang out, somehow they feel free to expose themselves to the vulnerability of revealing their inner struggles to everyone and noone in cyberspace! Interesting.
I have realised that there is not much of ‘me’ in these blogs. There are my ‘views’ and my ‘reflections’ but very litte of what I get up to or who I am. (perhaps adding these will be the final nail in my blogs coffin!). Anywayz, I realised that for peeps who want to know whats been happening, the info is bare! Alas I shall endeavor to treat my blog more like a journal, of course the freedom of private journals will not be expressed here. You can all breathe a sigh of relief! I much prefer the ‘clown’ option. While being more open and authentic the online thing means for me it will still be controlled and ‘polished’ since an audience is in mind.
Perhaps I should call this ‘a clowns blog’. However, I wonder how much of our time is spent, like the clown, seeking to create and preserve an image that is different from the reality?
