Lakeland Fire Spreads

The ‘fire’ from Florida seems to be spreading. From a Scottish perspective its hitting Christians and churches all over the place. This is true across the globe. Within myself I am still very uncertain about this thing. In fact as each day goes by I probably become more uncertain about it. It seems to me that many who have embraced it are unwilling to ask certain questions. I find a real lack of discernment among many Christians, it seems that decades of poor biblical preaching has had its toll on many believers. The reason I have included so many posts from revivalists describing genuine revival is to help people test the new against the old. There is an assumption today that God never does the same thing twice and that we should not expect the next revival to be like the last one. This is a misleading concept, the word of God is our pattern if it detours from the Word of God it is up for question!

Questions to ask about Lakeland

1) Are the healings that are being claimed really happening? Just because pain disapears in a moment of hype does not mean that healing is taking place. Many leave the revival to find that they are not healed.

2) Even if the miracles are real this does not prove it is of God. Is it the Holy Spirit who is at work in Lakeland? How do you know?

3) Is the preaching of the cross of Christ central? This is the core of Christianity, it is not an optional extra, the cross should have central place.

4) Are the ‘revelations’ claimed by Todd in line with scripture?

5) Are the descriptions of angels in line with scripture? Are their claimed revelations in line with scripture?

6) What are other leaders and ministries saying about Todd Bentley and his teachings even prior to the ‘revival’? Are their clasims valid?

7) Is there repentance being preached? This is a true characteristic of genuine revival.

Dont be afraid to ask questions, ‘test all things’. Dont jump into any river without checking for dangers i.e under currents that will sweep you away from Christ or polluted waters that will poison you with error.
