Prophecy regarding the Pentecostal movement
I came across this prophecy which was claimed to have originated from the early Pentecostal revival at Azusa street. Unfortunately I do not have a reference to the original source, however it rings true with me.
IN THE LAST DAY THREE THINGS WILL HAPPEN IN THE GREAT PENTECOSTAL MOVEMENT:
1) THERE WILL BE AN OVEREMPHASIS ON POWER, RATHER THAN ON RIGHTEOUSNESS;
2) THERE WILL BE AN OVEREMPHASIS ON PRAISE, TO A GOD THEY NO LONGER PRAY TO;
3) THERE WILL BE AN OVEREMPHASIS ON THE GIFTS OF THE SPIRIT, RATHER THAN ON THE LORDSHIP OF CHRIST.

We are certainly living in a time were it seems everything but the Lordship of Christ is being overemphasized!

The Welsh revival was a ‘repentance’ revival as was the recent Pensecola/Brownsville revival, the centrality of the Lordship of Christ obvious then. However, observation also saw the physical manaifestation of the Holy Spirit in many ways that perplexed people now and at the time. The welsh revival was criticised, apparently for retaining only 80,000 of the 100,000 converted ! Evan Roberts, one of the main protagonists could often exactly ‘prophesy’ how many would attend a meeting (what purpose was that for) - he then had a nervous breakdown and aside from writing a few pamphlets was more or less a spirtual recluse for the rest of his life - yet a large percentage of christians around the world would be able to trace their christian heritage to the welsh revival. In the Indonesian revival recently, with thousands attending a church, two priests physically battled to preach, in the end the police separated them and one of them preached - hundreds were converted ? ? ? Is it Proverbs that says ‘Lean not on your own understanding’

Hi Andy, I’m not really sure what you are saying here. I do get the ‘lean not in your own understanding’ at the end of your comment, perhaps I should lean on your understanding instead?
This prophesy, was claimed to have originated at the begining of the pentecostal movement. I have no way of proving it. However,
If its did originate then, judging from much of the movement today (I am a member of an AoG church and know the pentecostal movement well). I would say that this is a good description of where things are at today. Lakeland events would confirm this.
If it did not originate then, and someone said it recently. I would say it is a good summary of the currernt condition of the charismatic and pentecostal movements.

I have grown up Pentecostal, this statement noted above is so true as to how the Church is today. We want power without righteousness, we get into praising God, but not communing and communicating with Him, and we too often want to flow in the Gifts without flowing in the Gift Giver!!! God help us to get things in perspective, if we put Him first in all things then all these things will be added unto us! The church gets it out of focus; But the Bride of Christ will stand in the full stature power authority and headship of her Bridegroom Jesus, not because she wants to please Him ,but simply because she loves Him!! This love she has for Him will cause her to show forth His power through her in righteousness, pray to Him as one would whisper praises to her beloved and bow to Him as His majesty and Lordship shines through her to this present darkness.
