As my theology has evolved over the years, I’ve found my spiritual life evolving as well. Don’t let anyone tell you that your theology is not that important. As the old saying goes,’You Are What You Eat’! Your theology can determine whether or not you live for the Glory of God or a self-centered life.

My Journey into Reformed theology has helped me to focus on God’s Glory. I find myself desiring to know the God of the Bible, not a god made in my own image…God is truly “other” than we are, as T. Austin-Sparks once said, I love God-centered, Bible-saturated, Jesus-exalting preaching! My heart’s desire is to stay focused on the Cross of Christ and to treasure Jesus above anything or anyone else.

I think many in the Charismatic movement have gotten the cart before the horse. If you were born into the Kingdom in a shallow man-centered Church (Not All Charismatic Churches Are Like That) consider taking a look at the theology of those who live in the best of both worlds. Sam Storms and C.J. Mahaney are two of my favorites who are in that category. You can get free sermon down-loads on Mahaney’s Sovereign Grace Ministries web-site…Good stuff.

Keep the Bible in front of your eyes as much as possible…meditate on it…pray the Scriptures. I pray using The Lord’s Prayer as a guide almost everyday. It helps me because the first half of the prayer is about God the last is about my needs and the needs of others. Remember it’s, “Hallowed be thy name” not ours.
