An article in Christianity today in 2006 revealed the resurgence of calvinism among young believers, disatisfied with shallow versions of the faith many are returning to Reformed Doctrine (or perhaps more biblically ‘the faith that was once for all entrusted to the saints’ Jude) ;)

America is seeing an emergence in Calvinism but what about the UK? The first thing that I have increasingly noticed is that there are many in the UK who are totally commited to Reformed principles and who are totally passionate about Jesus. Phil Johnson has created a blog which is absolutely fantastic, inspirational and deeply biblical. A lot of the resurgence in Calvinism has a lot to do with John Piper. Piper was influential in my own journey towards the Reformed faith and I may blog about my own journey later. Another key guy is Mark Driscoll, Driscoll is much more recent and less conservative in his ‘culture’. His own definition is that he is ‘theologically conservitive and culturally liberal. An approach that has caused him to be criticized by another popular reformed preacher John Macarthur. This brings me on to another key mover and possibly the most influential within the Charismatic realm, that is, Sam Storms. Storms wrote Convergence: Spiritual journeys of a Charismatic Calvinist. This was another text that largely influenced me in my journey towards Calvinism.

This list is by no means exaustive I could talk about RT Kendall, J.I Packer, Martin Lloyd Jones, Wayne Grudem. All of these guys are word and Spirit guys and their writing is faithful to the Holy Spirit and the Word of God.

We are living in exciting times and I am looking forward to the growth of this emmerging movement!
