Romans 1:1 Part Four: God the author of the gospel

This final section of verse one draws our attention to the source and authority of the apostles message, namely, God!
Today’s postmodern context rejects absolute truth claims, everyones opinion is equally valid and every ones truth is true to them. When a group or an individual speaks it is widely understood that what they say is only true for them. Some Christians have begun to express the gospel in these terms as well, however once this happens the ’sting’ of the gospel is taken away. In fact not only the sting but also the the foundation, the power, the authority and much of the content.
Postmodernism is largely contradicatary, it rejects all absolute truth claims except that of its own! In order to say that there is no absolute truth one must make an absolute truth claim!
Anyway, the gospel comes with authority because the gospel comes from God himself. The scriptures reveal that there is one God who has revealed himself through his Son the Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus declared that every individual was lost and ruined and called each one to repentance and faith in him alone. He declared that the goodnews was that people who turned from sin and turned to him could recieve mercy and know the reality of sins washed away.
According to the word of God this is fact, any representation of Christianity that bypasses this bypasses God. Christians can be confident in their message because its authority rests in God. People have never liked the message, that is why the early Christians were all killed. They still hate it today, sadly, some believers think they can adapt it to make it more acceptible not realising that they are infact compromising the pure Word of God.
Do you have confidince in the authority of the gospel? Do you realise that its content comes from God himself? Do you know that it is the means whereby people recieve revelation of the true and Living God and that to tamper with it is to lead people into idolatry? Are you in idolatry because of your watered down and corrupted version of truth? If so repent and turn towards the true and living God and recieve this apostolic gospel which alone has the power to free you from sin.
